Job Description:
The Underwriter will be responsible for generating personal lines quotations on new and existing clients, file preparation, and activation with product providers upon completion of the advisers' advice process. Responsibilities include attending to day-to-day underwriting requests from clients, advisers, and providers, requesting renewal terms from providers, and preparing renewal files for advisers on personal lines policies that link to commercial policies.
Responsibilities:
- Generate quotations based on advice provided by advisers.
- Provide relevant quotations as per adviser requests.
- Ensure accuracy of contact details (contact person, email address, and contact number).
- Load contacts on myPractice as prospects.
- Record quotations in the quotation register.
- Prepare comprehensive quotation files (comparison quotes, application forms, debit order forms, FAIS documents, etc.).
- Activate accepted quotations with chosen product providers.
- Prepare and send welcome packs to clients and cc the adviser.
- Upload all documents onto myPractice.
- Record new business in the new business register.
- Provide accepted and completed packs to compliance monitoring division.
- Attend to day-to-day underwriting requests and send updated policy schedules to clients.
- Request renewal terms from providers and negotiate better terms when necessary.
- Handle adjustments after receiving renewal files from advisers and prepare renewal emails to clients.
- Ensure that all processes are in place, requesting assistance from advisers/team leaders as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12.
- Computer literate (MS Outlook, Excel, and Word).
- Successfully completed the RE 5 Examination (Representatives).
- NQF Level 4 Short Term Insurance qualification.
- DOFA confirmation from FSCA.
- A minimum of 3 years working experience within the short-term insurance industry.
Competencies:
- Good verbal and written communication skills (English and one other language).
- Strong administration, organization, and planning skills.
- Ability to handle administrative pressure.
- Negotiation skills.
